Slow Magic: Silver Linings

Over the winter I had a slightly negative situation in my living conditions.  I'm too busy to bother with a lot of bitching and nit picking, so mostly I just tried to do some teaching and go with the flow. A few weeks after this less than perfect roommate snuck out in the middle of the night I slowly began to see silver linings in the dark clouds he had left behind. I saw business opportunities I hadn't seen before.  Two other family members also found new doors opening up to them.  I began to wonder if there isn't a phenomenon that could be called slow magic.  So often the quick flash of a magic wand is what we think of when we think of magic.  We want to cause better things is life right away.  But sometimes things need to sit and simmer on the back burner.  So I suggest to all wise magicians out there, you may already have a cauldron of magic cooking away.  Discover it and stir it so it doesn't burn. Ideas and opportunities abound.  Find the magic in storm clouds and use it.  May the spark be with you.

Magic Likes To Be Drawn Out

Magic is often referred to as the study of the occult, or hidden. By being occult magic is less likely to be tarnished. If you desire to have some magic in your life you must be willing to call it forth and/or appreciate it when it comes, or is manifest. Every morning there is a beautiful sunrise that can be seen out my office door. But if I don't bother to see it it is not in my life. It is the same with friendships you don't nurture and goals you don't try to achieve. If you want those special things in your life you must make a home for them. The wise magician believes in possibilities and opens doors. But too many people fail to open their hands and hearts to receive. They say that good couldn't happen to them, that good doesn't exist, or that it is too much trouble to work for it. How foolish. Once magic starts to be drawn to you there is a power that continues that draw. This is not the exact quote from Goethe but he says, "If you can think a thing begin it, for effort has a magic and power in it." Do reach out for the little bit of extra zing that will make your life better. You deserve it and it wants to come to you.
Be clear about what you want and draw it to you. Ask for it, work for it, make a home for it. Goodness will come your way. May the spark be with you.

Let Magic Shine

Magic is like sunshine. It streams down all the time but you have to be available for it to shine on you. Now how can you do that? Don't hide away from the world in a closet of dark thoughts for one thing. Don't push blessings and good luck away from yourself. Ralph Waldo Emerson suggested, in one of his essays, that if you stir the pond on one side the good things floating on the other side will eventually be drawn to you. Let people know what you have to offer them. Let people know what you need from them. Put it out to the universe what you are trying to learn or accomplish. The world is full of people who enjoy helping people along their way. To test out the truth of that statement think of the times you have noticed something in a shop you thought someone else would like and had the urge to buy it for them. Or you saw something in print you wanted to pass on to someone. Be aware that the universe often offers good things as pearls. Pearls are beautiful but come about as a result of an irritation of the oyster. So look for the tiny gem of good in the bad, see the silver lining, find ways of getting inspiration from events that do not go smoothly for you. Let magic spark for you. It is there.

Whose Plan For My Day?

As I got out of bed this morning I was formulating a plan about reaching out to friends to help me become more adept at computer usage. Being able to attach to e-mails, paste, copy, save etc are all skills a writer needs. I planned to e-mail a certain friend about helping me assess my skills and making a plan to upgrade them. The universe planned that I must learn as well and it threw me in front of the school bus with a vengeance. I discovered I was locked out of my e-mail for security reasons then I learned that "I" had sent a scam e-mail from England asking for help because I'd been robbed. All while I was staying out of the cold here in the Rocky Mountains! I learned a lot of things I didn't know about using computers and had several good conversations with friends. I even felt friendly toward the lady in computer security I talked with in the Phillipines. It was a long hard day picking up all the pieces of the bus wreck. But I have some better skills and enjoyed the visits. I kept my eye on the prize, and whenever anything flashed by that I needed to know I snatched it. I also ended up getting promises of help in learning from several friends. Now I've recovered I'd say it was a fine day.
