The Magic Of Winter Trees

It's New Years Day and I have been being bombarded for a few days by e-mails about success and growth, all the things to consider at this time of year. I was musing about my own success, or lack thereof, and had to admit I didn't feel very magical. After all, magic is well- formed I am always saying. I judged myself as having too many loose ends. I had made a project list last night, then saw it again this morning, about all the things I am trying to learn and create. I am not that far along on most of them so it seemed like a daunting list. I felt frayed and frazzled in regards to having any hope for "success" this year. I took a deep breath and looked out the window in my office door at the majestic trees outside. Only one is an evergreen so I could see the stark branches reaching out every which way. Suddenly the magic that is all around me made itself known. I may be going in many directions but there is a unity to my growth. I am seeking ways to share with the world the message that they can choose happiness and everyone has an inner genius. I may seem to be branching out 'every which way' but I am reaching for the warmth of the sun. I know how to laugh, how to love and how to be resilient. My success will be in continuing to reach out, to take a stand for love of the Earth, of others and of self. If I am rewarded with financial success, and I am trying to move in that direction, it will be icing on the cake. So I suggest to all wise magicians. Today, if you wonder what you should resolve for the New Year, take a 'leaf' from Mother Nature- be true to yourself and grow in ways that are right for who you are. May the spark be with you.

Magic and Balance of Power

The Magician is one who creates his or her own magic. Sometimes the way so to do can be confusing, the way may not seem clear. At times like that it is important not to lose your sense of personal power. One time that the path can seem confusing is when you are experiencing loneliness. Loneliness is a feeling that can creep up on a person and rob them of energy and will. Don't let that overwhelm you. Find ways to deal with your loneliness before you do something that shows your loss of personal power. Some people give up their sense of personal power and give it to another in a mistaken attempt to push away loneliness. In the interaction of relationships the balance of power will be fluid and that is okay. But when it becomes set and rigid the relationship is in trouble. So, how does the magician grab onto the spark of magic to deal with loneliness? Reaching out and reaching in will do it. Simple. Dialogue with yourself in a variety of ways. Your creativity will show that dialogue and by reaching out to the ages you will be less lonely. I write for the readers I hope to have. Then sometimes I simply journal. That is another way I reach inwards. Reach out. Sometimes you may have to break the ice by simply going to the store and engaging in small talk with the clerk as you check out, before you attack the bigger problem of your loneliness, by assessing your relationships and seeing what changes you need to make. Whatever you are dealing with in your life, never doubt that you have to power to grab onto that spark of magic for yourself and make your life better.

The Magic of Creativity

Whenever I see someone that seems ill I wonder if they are suffering from dis-ease.
When the creative part of yourself is denied it is hard to be well. Creativity is one of those terms like 'intelligence, magic, the universe, or the soul' that might need to be defined by those who use the term for full understanding to come about. When you are being creative you are making personal decisions based on your inner self. To arrive at the finished creative work a series of these kind of decisions must be made. They are not necessarily easy, but when they are right a kind of zing or joy manifests itself. Some creative people gain fame and fortune. Some do not. The goal is not fame and fortune, but expression of the self. This often involves working out what the self wants, or needs, to express. I have started plays, poems, or pictures that were important until I worked through what I was trying to work through. I don't feel guilty that I don't always finish a creative work. I finish enough. If I am figuring something out I don't run away from it. The inner self will continue to push to get the idea out there, in some form or another, somehow, someway, someday. This I know. I also know that tools of logic, discipline, planning, asking question, are all hand-maidens of my creativity. I try to keep my tools in good shape and use them well. My creativity is important to me. I urge you to nurture yours, to always be open to ways to let your magical inner self shine through.
